Rating: - RPG in the old style
I found Fire Emblem to embody a lot of what the early RPG's great, strong plot with likeable characters and smooth linear storyline. I liked how you could recruit people as you went along and losing them for good if they died added a new dimesion of strategy and realism to this title.
Rating: - Good Guide for an Amazing Game
I know this bit belongs more in a review about the game itself than its guide book, but I simply must say Fire Emblem is one of the best titles I've ever played. It's easy to pick up and completely addicting.
The guidebook itself is very helpful, although not altogether necessary. Afterall, because there is so much chance in the game it's impossible for the book to give you step-by-step instructions to clear the chapter. Instead, in this area it only gives you general strategy ideas (i.e., split into three groups and take out points A, B, and C before heading to D), which often times is common sense (no matter what your strategic skill is- mine for one is practically non-existent). It also gives you the stats of all the enemies you'll face (which you can do in-game, although it's often not necessary anyway), and when/where reinforcements come in (THAT is the most helpful bit). Overall, strategy wise the book gives you a few general ideas (only spending two pages per chapter) but leaves much of the execution on you. Knowing of the various traps and when certain things are triggered in the chapter is quite helpful, though.
One of the things I found most useful was the info on how to recruit more characters. Some of the new recruits I could figure out through the game alone and a stretch of imagination, but others I swear I wouldn't have ever thought of without this book (and for me, those other characters ended up being my strongest).
The other thing I found amazingly helpful was the section on character conversations. It goes into detail of each characters strengths, and what will happen if certain characters talk to each other for long enough (attribute buffs, combo attacks...) those things I wouldn't have found out easily on my own.
In all, this book is worth getting. Although a lot of it you may not find too helpful (such as its rather general strategy suggestions), you will appreciate the sections on new recruits and inter-character relations.
Rating: - This game rocks!
The first ever fire emblem game I played was "fire emblem" for GBA. I was instantly hooked. if you have ever played a fire emblem game, I believe you will like this game. If you haven't, you will if you like RPG and Strategy games. The story of the game is well writen and is very interesting as well as the gameplay. some of the levels may make you want to throw your system out the window but you can get past them if you try. I beleve this to be the best fire emblem game yet.
Rating: - Awesome!!!!!
This book is the most helpful thing on the game. The game itself is awesome.
