Product Description:

This gray baseplate is a great place to start building cities, castles, or whatever your imagination can come up with. The baseplate measures 15 x 15 inches with studs. Package includes 1 baseplate. Additional LEGO pieces pictured are sold separately. For ages 4 - 12 years.

Editorial Review:
This light gray 15-by-15-inch LEGO base plate makes a great foundation for all kinds of fascinating LEGO creations. LEGO pieces snap easily onto the textured surface of this flexible plastic board, which is large and sturdy enough to support even your more elaborate scenes: space stations, launch sites, castles, forts, and cities--whatever you can imagine. The base plate holds your LEGO creations together and makes them easy to move around and display. (LEGO pieces are sold separately.) --Elisabeth Fredrickson

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - A Nearly Useless Accessory to Lego Building Blocks
I bought this building plate for my granddaughter knowing its very serious limits. It is not rigid enough to support any Lego project unless it is placed on a flat hard surface. After it arrived I immediately glued it to a 15 x 15 inch board to make it usable. Why would Lego produce such a chintzy product?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Makes Lego creativity possible, but not for shag carpet and don't pay too much!
Without a baseplate, the world of Lego creativity is rather limited. Building with Legos sans baseplate is like building a house without pouring a foundation.

Sadly, these baseplates are thin and flexible, so you won't likely break it if you drop it, but you also aren't likely to get too far if you try to build that skyscraper on a shag carpet. I bought one of these for each of my boys and we'll either use them on the dining room table or use a hard surface over the carpet, or glue the baseplate to a thin piece of plywood.

Finally, you can get these at toy stores for about ten dollars, but for some reason I've seen these priced at two or three times that from various on line businesses. Shop around because it isn't necessary to pay much over ten bucks for these things.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A bit flimsy
The big size is great. I would have expected this Lego plate to be more sturdy. When you pick it up, it sags, so it isn't good to carry it when you have something on top. It is just fine set on a table or hard flat surface though.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - My son wishes it was more durable, but loves it anyway!!
When we first received the product it was in a wrap and very flexible. Which I thought it would be a little more solid. My son collects legos and enjoys the platform but does wish that it was more sturdy as it is hard to travel with it from one room to the next without it bending almost in half.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Every kid needs at least one!
We ordered several and glued them to a plywood table. My two kids (boy, 9; girl,7)have built an entire lego city on it. There is no limit to the creativity. I HIGHLY recommend.
