Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - This was my first video game mag, so it's special to meh!
I like Gamepro. I actually miss how they used the silly faces for the ratings. I guess it was "immature", but "F" that! Seriously!

And now, it's half way filled with advertisements, advertisements and more advertisements. Not very appealing when you want information on your favorite games, and you have to skip through an advertisement every two pages, sometimes every other page!

I know they pay for GamePro to even "Be", but I still don't like the amount.

I like how they do the yearly "Presents to Get for X-Mas", and I've liked the Questions section, as well as the section that fills you in on glitches and such, as well as the section that gives you tips on how to fix things, game-related.

Also, the info. on what video game is selling the best towards the end, is also a nice edition.

The new ratings set up is good also. I just liked the silly pictures more.

And what happened to half of the GamePro staff?! It almost completely changed!!!!

It's not the best gaming magazine I've ever read. That's probably EGM Electronic Gaming Monthly, but I'm not reviewing that, because GamePro broke my gaming info...

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Craptacular!!!
I am utterly disappointed in the direction that Gamepro has taken over the past two years. I actually stopped my subscription for about 1 year, but came back to the 20 issues for $10 at their (10?) year anniversary. I forget. But the magazine is really bad.

One thing I laugh is, the retro corner. They have info about issues from 5 and 10 years before, and they always announce the number of pages from 10 years ago. I think the most recent issue, they said: 140 pages? Huh? I think my last issue was around 100. And don't try to tell me they've lost 40 pages in advertising.

Too bad on-line reviews and websites, are taking over the subscriptions of the hardcopy magazines. I'll stick with hardcopy until the end of my life. Or until the quality of these types of magazines gets so low, I can't stand it anymore. Or until my subscription runs out on this craptacular effort.

You guys were pretty good 5 years ago, but you've gone to pot these past two years! I'm talkin' to you Watchdawg!!!

You guys are suckin' lately!!!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - 10 years ago, I'd have given it five stars.
There is absolutely no reason to buy this horrid excuse for a gaming magazine. Maybe it's because the brand-new games are downright bland and shallow compared to the simplicity and charm of 8 to 32-bit eras. Maybe it's because they constantly put stupid ads in it that have nothing to do with gaming at all (Nature's Cure, I'm looking in your direction!). Maybe it's because their new layout looks absolutely boring and sterile compared to the excellence of the mid-'90s layout. Maybe it's because they continue to slam certain games and series like the Sonic games where they say that Sonic 2 was the last great game. Maybe it's because their reviews aren't any interesting to read. Maybe it's because the staff tries too hard to inject humor and their writing is absolutely shallow. Maybe it's because they failed to realize they did so much better in the '90s. Maybe it's all of those things. Yeah, that's the one.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Overrated Video Game Magazine
Stay away from this magazine. This magazine seems like it was made for beginning gamers.
Gamepro gets reviews for their magazines so late it's ridiculous. Other magazines have their reviews way before theirs It makes you think they're living in the past, like two months back. And the time frame that the magazine hits newstands is horrible. But that's not the reason they get their reviews so late. Honestly, I don't know why.
For their staff, they use cartoon characters. They don't have real pictures for their real faces. I don't know what they're trying to hide. Are they ashamed that they're nerdy gamers?
They also need to get rid of the stupid cheats and walkthroughs that take up about a fourth of their whole magazine. Maybe they should come up with a differnet publication for that.
The reviews numbering systmem is horrbile. They give their games scores of 1-5. That is definitely not enough options for reviews. They're probably trying to be unique and differeing themselves from other game publications and websites which mostly have 1-10 rating scores.
And also, the games that they have on their cover are bad. They rarely have exclusive previews or reviews like Game Informer or Elecronic Gaming Monthly. They're staff is obessessed with DragonBall Z. Yeah, that kiddy anime show. Every DragonBall Z game that is coming out, they have a cover for. And the DragonBall Z games ending up being average crap anyway.

If you're saying to yourself,"man does this guy having anything positive to say about GP?" Hmm. let me think.. no. If I HAD to come up with two reasons that this magazine is good it would be 1)the layout of the magazine is better than it used to be. It used to have colorful and confusing back grounds that matched the colors of the game. Now it is made up of a clean white and black layout. 2) I don't have to look at this magazine again.
I think that the fans of the magazine like it so much because it is the first gaming magazine they ever picked up. It was one of the first montly gaming magazines ever published, with over 200 issues so that is understandable. But, try other--better options of game magzines. Anything is bettter than this piece of crap. Like Game Informer, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Play, Game Now (which I don't think exists anymore, which is interesting because Game Pro deserves to be dead), Nintendo Power, Official Playstation Magazine,...

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Gamer's In Detail
Video game magazines have been all the rage in our lives. Yet there are just so many of them that tell different stories for different video game systems. That has been the case with one of the biggest-selling ones of all time, Gamepro. They truly have made it one the most provocative and well in-depth magazines with detail about what games are popular according to their writers, and what upcoming games and systems are all in the works. The magazine is quite well, but I honestly do wish they could try to publish more in the way of codes and helpful hints for several games for Gamecube and Game Boy Advance, when most of it primarily focuses in on Playstation 2 & Xbox. Yet, Gamepro really handles itself as a very deep gamer's magazine. Anybody who wants to be enjoy the field of video games, this magazine is worth reading.

Overall: B 1/2+
