Amazon.co.uk Review:
With a title like Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO, this can be nothing more or less than an old-school, two-dimensional Capcom beat-'em-up. Love it or hate it, this is just the ticket for hard-core fighting fans. And boy, is this hard-core. Capcom is the company responsible for Street Fighter, and is the most famous Japanese developer of 2-D beat-'em-ups. SNK, on the other hand, is so old school it went bust in 2001.

Anyone who’s ever played a beat-'em-up will know the basic rules of the genre--hit your opponent until they fall down--but Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO adds additional options that will keep fans happy for months. There are six different fighting styles (or grooves), a terribly complex ratio system for choosing a team of up to three fighters (although oddly there’s no tag option), and a veritable feast of minor options and game modes.

Basically, if you like this sort of thing, you’ll absolutely love Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO--except there’s a rather big "but" coming up. As you may have noticed, the GameCube’s controller isn’t really very well suited to this sort of game, so Capcom has created a rather odd alternative control system that puts all the special moves within easy reach on the C-stick. Hard-core fans are likely to upchuck at the very thought, but it is relatively playable in a shallow, Mortal Kombat kind of way. The normal six-button control method is still included, but it really only works if you can use a proper arcade-style joystick with it. --David Jenkins

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Cap vs. Snk
Just wana say that this game is ok but its not like marvle vs capcon. this game is like the street fighter anniversary collection, the old school cheap graphics but even so its entertaining. If you want the real deal with a street fighter game defenatly check out marvle vs capcon, but i must warn you the price is rediculous, but hey if you got the money then go for it.

I love playing this game. It is so challenging at first, but after that it gets easier. I find out about new features all the time. If you liked the Street Fighter series, this is the game for you!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not for the diehards
I've played most of the Street Fighter/Alpha/Marvel/SNK games, but the last Street Fighter game I actually purchased was Super Street Fighter II for the Super Nintendo (having an N64 over a PSX means you miss out on virtually the entire Capcom line). That said, I had to buy Capcom Vs. SNK 2 for my Gamecube, just to have a traditional, 2D fighting game in my library with all those wild flashy moves, isms, and insane old-school combos.

Right off the bat, diehards should avoid this port and stick to their PS2s and Dreamcasts. If you live and breathe Street Fighter like my friend, and have mastered the arcades, you're going to be very insulted by how easy it is to pull off special moves here. This is the one time Nintendo's controller really doesn't come through, and they added this "cheat" mode as a way to compensate. On the other hand, if you stick with the other control style, Capcom vs SNK 2 is a very good game. It's a little harder to pull off moves, but the game is nowhere near unplayable like most major review sites have suggested.

Graphically, the game is dated compared to most games today, but its about as polished a 2D Capcom fighting title as you'll find, which is what matters. Lots of characters to select from, flashy arcade-style menus, and 2D backgrounds with some 3D effects. Sound effects are solid, music is in-your-face, and the announcer has his usual quips. Everything you want is here.

If Gamecube is your only system, snag this game so you can balance your 3D Soul Calibers and Mortal Kombats with a 2D fighter. If you own a PS2, go for that version instead. Cube owners should note that Capcom stopped production on this game, so the sticker price has risen on all new copies because of its 'rare' status. Try to find a used version if possible.

Once I saw this game I knew I had to have it. Being the crazy Capcom fan I am, I bought it for 20 bucks on the spot. The character line-up is great, from Capcom there's the classics: Chun Li, Ryu, Ken, Cammy, and others from Street Fighter, Morrigan from DarkStalkers, (she kicks ass in this game), and other people who were strangers to me, like Maki. Then there's the easter egg dudes who were just thrown in for the fun of beating their butts like Blanka and E.Honda. SNK also has some cool people I've grown attached to like Mai, Vice, and Yuri. FYI- I only play the girl chars cause all the guys suck except for Akuma and Geese who annoys the crap out of me with his counter attack.... Anyway, the game is 2D like the original arcade style which I thought was sweet cause it's like paying homeage to the greatest fighting games ever. There's also a thing that you can do to change the characters outfit to different colors, i.e Chun Li now has her classic blue outfit, turquoise, pink, red, green, black, and white, you just press different buttons. All in all this was a great video game investment and I'm so glad I didn't pass it up.
