Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best Mom Ever!!!
I bought this for my son's 10th birthday. It's great. I wanted to put it together, I told him it might be complicated, but that's just because it looked like fun. He let me start it with him, and then he fooled me and got up at 4am to finish. It's absolutely great. But one thing, when you put in the batteries, they go in on both sides. We didn't pay attention to that part and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work, and we had to take it apart and that's when we realized our mistake. It's a great toy and my son loves it. It's the only thing he's not changed, out of all his lego sets. It's a lot of fun.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Lego Creator
My son got this for his birthday when he turned 10. I thought he would love it, since he loves lego sets. He built the alligator, but never built the other animals. He liked it, but said it was too much work, and gave up with the rest. Today, the complete set is still in the box, and is unused. I'm hoping he will bring it out again during this winter months. It is a very durable toy, and all his friends have one too, and they all love playing with it. It stays together while playing with the animals, it doesn't fall apart like other lego sets. I highly recommend this set for kids who love legos.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Lego -- always a good buy
I purchased this for my son's 6th birthday. Before it arrived, I was a *little* nervous that it was going to be a little too much for him. But his year-or-so of experience with Bionicles gave him the understanding he needed to build all three of the designs in this box. He required only a little guidance or correction to succeed. And the motor and remote control made this kit especially rewarding when he could see what he put together scurry around the room wirelessly.

The only cons that I see, and this would go for all Lego products today, is that they are much more 'constrained' in design than when I was a kid. Back then, one had to use his imagination to plan, build and enjoy. Today, the pieces go together one way and many kids (I assume) stop there. It takes some encouraging to get ours to "think outside the box".

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Terrific advanced set!
Compared to the rest of the Creator range, this set is more complicated, and considerably less forgiving of minor errors. It doesn't much matter if a brick in your Model Town House is one peg off spec, but an error in this Dino will either render it inoperable or cause it to fall flat on its snout.

Once finished, this set is awesome! It amuses small children for hours, and completely freaks out pets. The core of the model is a very sturdy torso-and-legs structure which looks hilariously like a headless chicken. The dinosaur tail, head etc are essentially just cosmetic additions. Small children and small nervous dogs can tear off bits of the dinosaur shell, and the underlying chicken will keep right on going, rather like a Lego Terminator.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Cool lego but remote doesn't work
I bought this for my 8 year old. With a lot of help from his 13 year old sister, they put it all together and had a great time doing it. The end result toy looked really cool and moves smoothly. BUT, the remote control and/or robotics doesn't work! Very disappointing to the kids after spending two days putting it together. I tried everything I could to figure out the problem (double-checking new batteries, connections, etc) to no avail. Since it was so pricey largely in part because of the engine, I don't feel we got or money's worth with this lego.

Also, they have three different toys you can make with it... which sounds cool, but once you build one, it is *very* difficult to pull apart all the little tiny pieces to make the next one. The kids said no way were they going to do that.
