Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Smash Bros is fun
Smash bros is a good set of games, and even with the upcoming release of the newer version this is still a very good use of your time. You can get up to 25 characters to play with. Multiplayer is where this game is at though, you can play with up to 3 friends.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - P.S. Smash bros...I think I love you
Great game!! Mario versus Ganon!? Yes!! Yoshi spanking down Samus?! Awesome!

I would like to see Sonic in these games. I know he is not a nintendo character but it would be sweet non the less!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Joyful or Infuriating?
This game comes from a great idea/concept. You can play as many Nintendo characters but it is extremely difficult for someone new to the gaming world to pick up and just play. Some of the screens move extremely fast and to a new gaming person, seem impossible to beat. It is very fun to play as the different characters if you don't let the fact that it is difficult get to you. Be ready to devote some time because you have to play this game for a long time before you can get really good at it and fully enjoy it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - An amazing game
Ok, for all of the retards who continually say that the game is geared towards five year olds, that it is easily mastered and that its no fun unless you have 3 friends that are also 5, i have only one thing to say. your retarded and the only reason you wrote that review was because you probably got your butt kicked and are just a sore loser. For the rest of us hundred thousands players out there who still think the game is amazing because it is amazing fighter and party game that weve been playing with our friends for over 3 years now. I myself got the game the week it came out, and i still play the game and i mus say you can always have fun with it and pick it up. there are 52 random mission type fights to do that involve defeating two or more enemies with bombs on the field for example. there are tons of maps to be unlocked more than i ever imagined, over 250 trophies (i have all but 2), 11 extra characters to help keep the madness varied, a bunch of cool game modes like slow mo and super small mode (where you characters have all eaten a poison mushroom for the whole match) to keep things fun and varied, and on top of that, you can even take pictures if you have another controller, making this game an amazing addition to any gamecube owners collection. if you own a gamecube and dont own this. then your missing out no matter what the age.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The N64's Best Is Back
Easily one of the most popular games in the Nintendo GameCube library, Super Smash Bros. Melee really delivers.

The starting roster of characters is a healthy improvement over the N64 version's. And as before, a number of extra characters may also be unlocked. When the number of "VS." matches played or the cumulative time of "VS." matches played hits certain milestones, the winner of the match is challenged by the new (computer-controlled) character. Certain single-player accomplishments can also trigger the challenges.

New in this sequel is the ability to charge (hold) smash attacks. This not only makes the attack stronger, but it also gives you more control over the timing of the attack.

Another new maneuver is the forward+B special attack. In addition to the up+B and down+B attacks, the neutral+B and forward+B attacks have been disambiguated. For example, Ness' PK Fire has been reassigned to forward+B, and neutral+B is a different special attack. This can be difficult to adjust to for long-time N64 gamers, but with time old habits can be broken.

It is also possible to dodge in midair now. Something like a midair counterpart to rolling on the ground, this is a quick way to get out of danger.

The new "Event Mode" can be difficult at times. For example, in Event #36, you control Ness and must dispatch five foes in succession. Such tasks should provide a healthy challenge for all but the most skilled of gamers.

Some of the new levels don't seem very well-designed, but this is a minor criticism at worst because level selection is an option. Character balance seems mostly okay, though many complain that Roy and Marth of Fire Emblem fame are overpowered.
