Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Don't think of it as a come back
Right now my best friend Forrest is like god to me he bought the game for the dreamcast when i played it iwas hooked on PSO phonics then i got the game for my birth day. then weeks weeks weeks later i found out that PSO was comming To the game cube thats when things got real...

all right this game has great and betiful graphics great online and offline game play the charather desighn feauture is really stunning

those are just some of the things that i am going to review

the game play is simple enouth to understand you learn combos buy combos there are pleanty of diferent moves and magic for each weapon there are no combos or magic attacks that are the same so dont worry there are plenty of weapons around 137 and some but what is real bicthy about the real real real real real cool weapon is that they are hard as hell to get-unlock-find-receive-or win like the double bladed swords light saber like weapons but if your a gun type person there is gun to so dont think your missing out

Lets talk Final Fantsy summons in PSO there are little robot like summon that you can feed and take care of ... they have this hidden abiltty called (photon blast) the Mags(summon) turn into animals like PowerRanger cretures ( are so so so so so cool man im fool of it)

In the game you grow levals in STR-DEF-ABL- and so on this is quiete possible the best online game evere created( and this is not just my oppionin)

The bad part is this is only one og the few online games in the GameCube sorry but this the truth face it

But dont worry ive have not beaten the game but that will last me untill Phantasy Star online Episode III C.A.R.D Revoltion

like i seid dont think of it as a come back trust the PHANTOM

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of the Top 5 games for the GC
One of the best, longest games on the gamecube. You start into the game as a Hunter, Force, or Ranger at lv 1 with basic items. There is more specific clases like RAmar and HUcast (ranger human male and hunter android male respectively) which limit you what items you get and what your beginning stats are. For example HUcast's have regenerating HP and the most ATK but the least amount of accuracy compared to the other classes. You get experience for killing monsters and when you get enough exp. you level up. You can get up to level 200, that is the highest in any game that i know of. When you level up your stats increase until they are maxed out.

The point of the game after you beat the story on all 4 difficulties (normal, hard, very hard, and ultimate) is to collect all of the many rares and special items this game has (well over 250). This game has a GREAT replay value and also is the only game online for the gamecube (other than warppipe compatible games: www.warppipe.com for more information). I would recommend adding this to your library of games.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good game, limited appeal.
Originaly, this was one of my favorite all time games, largely due to the excellent online experience this game offered at one time...
Since there has been a lack of enthusiasm on Nintendo's part on promoting this game or the onling experience, there has sadly been a great loss of participants and this cripples the game's appeal quite a bit. Although it can be played offline, it still suffers because it is not an RPG in the traditional sense...Instead of moving through an epic story line and leveling your character to ultimatley bring the story to an end, you will move through a very small, finite story, to ultimatly beat a boss, and then go through the same thing several times to level your character to 200 and hopefully collect some of the rare and unique weapons or items in the game. It is this repetition of the scenarios that the online version would make acceptable and enjoyable. Indeed, bringing down a great foe after a long fight along side 3 other live team-mates is a wonderfull thing, as the multitude of personalities shine through the toon-like characters of the game. The once abundant gathering of charactes in the lobbies was a lively and ever changing place and it highly promoted the finding of rare items to trade, or simply to show off during battle.
That being said, I regret to say that I cannot at this time recommend this game. It is unique, and interesting, but offline play seems shallow and repetitive, even monotonous when you go it alone. You can play with others offline, but I find the smaller divided screen difficult to get your bearings and just less enjoyable.
I can say this game is ok solo the first time through. However, without the active online play, there is just not enough motivation to reapeat the process over and over again. Originally this was a five star game. Sadly I have to bring it down to 3 stars. Its still good, but very limited.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Get it While you can or Get PSO plus when it comes out!!!!!!
This Game rocks!!!!!!!!!!!! Buy it as soon as possible! Some people say that its boring and while the levels get slightly repetetive the greater the level or the more you play through a level the more you will find. It starts of at normal difficulty and you can unlock hard, very hard, and ULTIMATE! The incentive for playing to ultimate is that there are over 250 unique items that are all accesible to find in ultimate!!! The items are so different looking that you kind of want to get all the items in the game. There are three classes force, ranger (THE BEST), and hunter. I have played this game extensively and still sadly have not gotten online but I know from friends that it is utterly amazing with new quests and items and mini-games!! Its totally worth $9 a month! Buy it while you can! I would give it 100 of 100 stars but it doesn't go that high!!!! Hope this helps. PSO ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A must buy game!!
To RPG lovers out there I strongly suggest Phanatsy Star Online. You get to play off-line and on-line, both are extremely fun. You also get to create a charchter, chosing different genders, cloths, hair, and other things to make your charchter unique. There are hunters who are deadly with swords and are great for close combat situations, but also gun use handguns. In the Hunter category you can be a male hunter, a female hunter, male android, or female android. Androids are more powerful then a human but cannot use magical spells, but, in return for not using magical spells, androids have the ability to slowly regain health, and set up traps to ensnare their oppenents in.

Then we get to the Ranger category. Rangers the primary gun users of the game. They may use handguns, like the hunter, but they can use guns that the hunter can't use like a rifle or a sniper wich makes them excellent for artillery. They are able to use a sabre but cannot use a sword. With rangers you can be a male ranger, female ranger, male android ranger, and a female android ranger. Again androids are much stronger, unable to use magic, but have the ability to set traps for there oppenent.

After the rangers comes the Forest. Forests are the heavy magic category for the game. Overall they are weak in attack, low in health, and low in deffense. You maybe thinking why would you want use those? Well they make up for all this with the ability of magic. They have a load of TP (a thing used for making spells) and they learn harder spells earlier then any other category in this game. This is the special forces group of the game. Of your thinking what are spells for? Well spells are a must in this game, unless you are an android. There are fire, electricity spells, spells to heal you or revive you, slow down enemies, or speed up yourself, or even teleport you out of danger. Forests have a male human, female human, there are no androids instead there are elves femal and human as well. The elves have the most TP in this category.
Overall this is a great game off-line or on-line i highly recomend it. Mission are a great way to make money and multiplayer is a great way to battle together.
