As everyone knows by now Nintendo went a new direction by going CD instead of cartridge. In doing this move it was essential that memory cards come into play, since the game CD's can't store memory. There have been a variety of 3rd party cards and an earlier Gamecube one, but of all I have tried, this one is by far the best.
Basically the previous ones I used did not have as good storage space, and got corrupted quite often. An example of this was when I used a 3rd party memory card while playing Phantasy Star Online. Within a week all my data was corrupted on the card. I then switched to the 251 from Nintendo, and I haven't had a problem since. I really like the color of the card too, because it matches my Black Gamecube. The storage space is the best you can get as well, able to hold quite a few game data files. So, overall get this one above all others, because for one it is from Nintendo itself, and because it is more reliable than the rest from my experience.

251 is a LOT of space. Unless you're one of those peole who has every game (then you night need it), but still........ The average game takes up about 7 spaces. So that means you could have about 40 games without needing another card. But still, there are people with that many games. But this is the best memory card for gamecube so far so if you are low of space get this one, the equivlent of 5 of the old memory cards, so it is definatly worth it, even if you only have a few games now, you never know when extra space might come in handy!

The memory card 59 was one of the worst memory cards Nintendo ever put out, but this one is just so much better. Sure, it may cost a lot, but 251 blocks is definitely plenty, unless all you do is play Franchise mode on sports games (I do on Madden 2004, but thats it). Even after that, there is still plenty of space left. It is well worth the money and very reliable, while my files have become corrupt and deleted occasionally..-_-
