Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A great game, and a great port.
This game is a port from the original release on Playstation one, as well as dreamcast. It is well worth the buy. It was a great, breakthrough game when it came out, and it still is.
These reviewers don't seem to get the point. Yes, capcom did not remake this game or the other games, but they AT LEAST gave us a port. They could have not done anything and left us with just the new games. But, because they know we all love RESIDENT EVIL 2, as well as the others, (And we probably do not own a dreamcast or PS1 anymore) they made a port for us.
Graphics: At the time a 10. Now, probably down to 5. But still, an overall ten for when it first came out. (Check out the pictures I uploaded)
Replay value: 10. With four different endings (2 Leon and 2 Claire), two extra mini game characters Hunk and Tofu, an extra mini "battle" game, about two or three new weapons with infinite ammo and new costumes, this game will keep a devoted fan busy for hours.
Loading Time: Not a problem at all.
Everything else gets a 10. It is just an awesome port overall.
The only small problem is the sound. At times, it can be hard to hear, but I don't mind it, which is why this game still got a 10.
Don't get me wrong, RE2 should have DEFINATELY had a remake, since it was the best game in the series and all. Maybe one day...
Buy this game if you do not already own it for gamecube, even if you already have it for PS1 or Dreamcast...Or both!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - NnyCW for Capcom City
Resident Evil 2 greatly improved upon the original version of Resident Evil (though the remake of it bests this at best and ties it at worst) Everything you liked about the original Resident Evil is made better and everything that was a problem in the original is fixed here. And the ability to play as Leon and Claire as well as alternate scenarios for both of them mean this game sure as hell has replay value. (you have to play the game thru four times, all of which are different, before you've really beaten the game) If you don't have Resident Evil 2 by now, there is no reason not to finally pick up a copy of this CW for CapCity.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - best ps1 game ever
this game is so much fun i wish that the movie was half as good
the backround music and sound effects were the best i ever heard
its plain fun and simple i think it would be cool if they had a semi randomizing level scares so that the surprises wouldnt get old

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Just Plain Lazy
What is the point. Capcom goes to all the trouble of giving the original Resident Evil a face life and then they just decide to get lazy and port the game to GCN?
What is the logic of paying $40- $50 on a game that has no new improvements,
no added storyline or features of any kind, a graphics that are archaic by today's standards? You can probably find it on Ebay for $5 - $10 for PS1.
Total Rip off.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Don't be an idiot!
First of all, I am not a kid. Second of all, you should know that unlike RE1 for the game cube, this is not a remake, just a port! So, if you liked the remake of RE1, forget about buying this version of RE2. Nothing can justify this! I highly reccomend the PC version if you don't have a Playstation.
