Resident Evil 2 follows aroung Claire and Leon two unlucky strangers who stumble into Racoon city. Any fan of the RE series would completely love this gameeven if it has some glitches and not so great graphics.

I had so much fun with Resident Evil 2 in late 1998. It was one of the scariest, hearthrobing, pants wetting experience of all time back then. Keyword: Back then. Don't get me wrong, Resident Evil 2 is an awesome game but buying this version isn't like going to the store and picking up Final Fantasy Anthology vs. paying 80 dollars for the original SNES cartridge. YOU CAN STILL FIND RE2 ON THE PSX AND BUY IT FOR LESS THAN 40 DOLLARS!
RE2 isn't a bad game but with the overhaul re-release of Resident Evil 1, it would've been great to see RE2, the best one in the series, get the same makeover. Well, it didn't. This is a direct port of the original PSX version. It runs smoother on the gamecube but the graphics remain the same and all the elements of the gameplay remain the same as well.
Usually a port or rerelease has something to tweak it up a bit. Maybe add in a small bonus or even just smoothen out the graphics. But the re-release of RE2 does no such thing.
This is bad, especially for RE2. In 1998 this was the scariest game of all time! When this was re-released the fear that was in the game is wasted and gone. You won't jump anymore or anything like that. IF you don't have the PSX version and you don't have a PSX or PS2 then you can get this game. If you have a PSX but don't have the game then get it on PSX instead. The 40 dollar price tag is too expensive for a game that the exact version can be found with ease.

My first experience with RE was the re-make of the original game for Gamecube. I thought is was great, and quickly ran out to get RE Zero. The two-player feature made that game unique and interesting as well, so I bought RE 2. This was a big disappointment. I didn't know it at the time, but this is NOT a re-make -- it's just basically the old playstation game re-formatted to work on Gamecube. The graphics are cartoonish, and the characters look like puppets. The game format also is inferior to RE and RE Zero. If you choose "arranged" game, you start with an infinite rocket launcher and machine gun, which makes the game FAR to easy (even for a poor player like myself). My big "final" battle only took one shot from the rocket launcher. In the "normal/original" game, you start with Claire or Leon. After a few hours, you're done and then you're supposed to start over with the other character. The game is slightly different with the other character, but not enough to make it interesting. Also, for me, it was impossible to unlock the bonus game. I work 60 hours a week, and can only play in 1/2 to 1 hour blocks. If you "save" the game, it hurts your ranking and you can only get the bonus game with an "A" ranking on both characters. There also was nothing particularly new about the story line, except this time it's the "G" virus instead of the "T" virus. On the positive, there was a lot of action, and some new monsters, and it kept me entertained. However, CAPCOM should be ashamed for selling this game for $40, when you can get the same game in the playstation format for around $10. This will be my last RE purchase. For $40, I'd rather get a new release of something else.

This is one of the very first RE games that i have played (playstation version) & is my favorite RE game, or was actually.. until they remade the first RE game (Resident Evil 1). Like i said this was my favorite game because not only cuz of the graphics but the storyline was soo great in this, and the music scared the heck out of u. When i heard capcom remaking the RE games i was soo excited (except for the fact they were remaking them on the gamecube), anyways i got over that at least cuz i now have a Gamecube (got it for less then 80bucks) well they had the resident Evil remake and so i was waiting for the RE 2 & 3 remakes and when i saw the screen footage for it, i was like what is this a joke or are they really just throwing the same game from playstation to the GC. I was really dissapointed.. what is the point in buying the same game with the same stuff in it as what i have. U know i even bought a new RE2 on psOne for $14.99 cuz it was in a thinner case. Thats how much i like this game. But when i heard they smoothed the graphics a bit im thinking ok sounds good enough to buy right?? Not really.. i saw the price to be too high, $39.99.. i was thinking, why in the world would u spend that much money on something that wasnt really fixed up.. u spent that amount on the remake of RE1 and got alot out of it, the same for RE 0. but even though its dropped now its still kinda expensive. really $29.99 should have been its original price when it first came out then drop down to like $20 or something.. but nope.. so my suggestion is if u havent played this RE game yet.. buy it.. if u have played it then i would probablly wait til they drop it down again b4 buying it.. or just keep looking on here for a good price.

Resident Evil 1 for the GCN was way improved and scarier then the origanal Resident Evil on the PS1. Then soon after that, Resident Evil Zero came out with intense graphics and not so scary places. Resident Evil 2 came out with high expectations, but failed. The old school graphics [stink] out the new feel of Resident Evil 2. It has been improved a little, but not enough to make a difference. The lack in graphics make the game less scary, making the point dull. Buy it if you don't have a PS1 or PS2. You won't find a big difference. Still, Resident Evil Series looks like it is going down hill, so be hopeful it doesn't stop! Scare you later!
