I bought this to play on my new Wii because I never did buy a gamecube, and man was I ever let down. I have a SNES system pretty much just for the original mariokart. It's great, it's something that challenges everyone and can be enjoyed by kids and adults. Double dash is so infantile it sickens me! The battlemode options are terrible! Who wants to play on top of a gamecube? That's the most uninspired thing I've ever seen! And other venues such as cookie land? I wanted to see sequels to the original, advances in the game but the same basic concept. This game is for kids much like the N64 version, look toward the gameboy DS for a better mariokart. A serious let down. If you liked the original at least rent it before you buy it just to see if I'm telling the truth here.

This is a fun game but if you have played the classic Mario Kart this one does not have as many of the classic stages and characters. The good thing about it is you can play head to head or by yourself. Each character has their own and unique powers and power-ups. We give it a thumbs up!

Every version of this game is a lot of fun. Nintendo continues to produce new things for this, the two drivers, special items and picking your kart make this even better than the N64 version.

Mario Kart Double Dash!!
One of the best games $30 can buy.
Race yourself to set the fastest time on 12 different tracks in Time Trial mode. Challenge your friend to a race on your favorite track, or battle each other in 3 modes of play on 4 cool tracks. Choose two of your favorite Mario characters; there are 16 to pick from. Pick your car and race to victory. Race from solo to 8 players (you can play with 5-8 players if game system is linked to other systems). Plus pick up items to slow your opponents. This game is awesome to play with family and friends. It is also very easy to learn. Rated E, it is suitable for every one.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!! is the fourth game in Nintendo's acclaimed kart-racing series. As always, it is a ton of fun to play, and is especially great for multiplayer. However, it all feels like it's been done before, and with only sixteen tracks, the fun runs out fairly quickly.
The new cooperative dual-racer feature is actually very well done. One person can control both characters as if they were one, or two players can work together with one controlling all the racing and the other controlling items, speed boosts, etc. The two can swap at any time, and this makes for frantic multiplayer fun. It's a very well-implemented feature.
As far as the single-player goes, there is only the standard grand prix and time attack modes. This is very disappointing, as it makes it so it just isn't very much fun to play alone for long. A more expanded single player would have been great.
Also, the game would have been so much better if it had had about twice as many tracks, and more variation between characters. The scope of the existing tracks is also limited - larger environments with more branching paths would have been great.
All in all, you can't go wrong with Mario Kart. Nintendo could have done much, much better, but that doesn't stop it from being a fantastic multiplayer game, as it has always been.
